Many players have trouble finding a way to practice tennis, and not to mention practicing it the right way. It is best to practice tennis with games and drills that are fun and easy to play. It is important to find tennis drills that keep players moving and keep the ball in play. First, figure out where you stand in terms of level of play. Second, you need to find hitting partners to practice with or a ball machine. Third, practice these 3 simple tennis drills that will give you a good work out, excellent practice, and extreme fun!

Drill One: Reaction Volleys

This is done with all players at both sides of the net rallying out volleys back and forth to each other without letting the ball bounce. The key is to keep the ball in play and focus on a rally with the other side. Be ready for the ball by staying on the balls of your feet and going back to the ready position each time. Reaction volleys focus on quick reflexes and hand-eye coordination. This tennis drill lets players practice their volleys and keep their reflexes sharp.

Drill Two: 6 Ball Drill

This tennis drill is played at the baseline of the court. It starts with a forehand groundstroke, backhand groundstroke, shortball, forehand volley, backhand volley, and ends with an overhead shot. This incorporates all aspects of tennis into one tennis drill, and it gets the heart pumping with movement towards the net. Many players love this tennis drill for warming up in the beginning of practice.

Drill Three: 10 Ball Drill

This drill can be done with a ball machine and is real simple. Give yourself a shot to practice, and then count the number of times you make it in. The key here is to get to 10, but if you miss a point is deducted. To simplify the game, the points do not go negative. This tennis drill is good for concentrating the practice on control. Some ideas for this would be to practice down the line shots, cross court shots, angled volleys, backhand slice, etc. Give yourself a challenge with this one!

Take these 3 simple tennis drills to the tennis courts the next time you decide to practice. Tennis drills make practice more fun while improving your tennis game! If you don't have the advantage over your opponent, you may want to think about revisiting the basics of tennis. Look for videos that provide good advice for beginning tennis players to learn the fundamentals of tennis that are needed for these drills.
